What’s the Number One Cause of Obesity in America Today?

Hey everybody! I thought I would address a subject that I have to address a lot with my patients…it seems like 24/7. People are always asking me, “How do I lose weight?” They come up with a variety of reasons of why they’ve gained weight including lack of exercise, slowed down metabolism, or all of the meds they’re taking. I usually just agree with them, but I will try and redirect them to the number one cause of obesity in America today. It’s called FOOD. In fact, the leading 3 causes are likely food, food, and food.

I have studied obesity for 25 years now, and I have found a simple system in which most people can lose weight and keep it off. There are surely a ton of ways to lose weight out there including keto diet, intermittent fasting, and even starvation. However, my diet I feel is a lot simpler and easier to maintain in the long run.

It’s called the fuel diet. Basically, I feel your body needs fuel all day to function and give you energy. If the fuel in your body starts running low, your body seems to hold on to as much storage as it can. I call that fat. The body wants to hold on to fat if it can for storage. If you want to trick your body into burning fat, which is called ketosis, then you must adjust the way you eat.

The Fuel Diet consists of eating 6-7 times per day. It is amazing the push back I get from people when I tell them this. They say, “I can’t do that, Doc! I’m too busy!” I usually reply with, “Hey, I’m one of the busiest guys I know, and I can do it!” Once I get them started and they see how easy it is, they typically realize how well it works. I’ve helped hundreds of people lose over 30 pounds and keep it off safely and rather easily. My message on the Fuel Diet and more details are included in my new book, Winners Travel: A Doctor’s Guide to Mental, Physical, and Spiritual Health.
